The Outcomes Measurement (OM) Australasia team at EY is one of the largest social value practices in the region. We regularly deliver SROIs and impact assessments for a range of businesses, government teams and not for profits.
We focus particularly on business’ impact performance and reporting as part of a broader range of Sustainability and Climate Change services. Some of our most rewarding projects have been about supporting companies to hone in on this softer, intangible value and work as more “social businesses”.
Our key services include:
• Strategies and programs to meet social and natural capital impact objectives and/or shared value
• Community investment, Aid and partnership strategies
• Impact investment advice and assurance including family office management and large social funds
• Training in outcomes measurement, outcomes commissioning and
• Natural capital assessments and valuations
• Building internal systems, dashboards and competence to measure/report impact
• Develop an outcomes measurement framework
• Impact analysis including aid and social return on investment
What have you been working on recently in the realm of social value?
This year we completed an SROI with the Movember Foundation and the Australian Football League Player’s Association looking at the SROI of an innovative wellbeing app targeting young men. We explored a range of investment scenarios and likely wellbeing returns from using sport and gamification to engage men in mental fitness.
We frequently work with larger corporates such as Stockland (property development sector) for whom we just completed an SROI on their Retirement Living portfolio.
Outside of SROI, we have just started a national impact evaluation with Reconciliation Australia, the lead body promoting institutional action on relationships, respect and trust between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and non-Indigenous Australians. We have also work with the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation and Social Traders Australia.
What would you like to gain from organisational membership?
We are keen to exchange practice with peers internationally. EY’s OM team is spread across many geographies and we would love to be plugged into national and regional conversations on best practice and where local evidence bases need to be strengthened.
