We at Social Value International are delighted to announce our newest Joint Member Network, Social Value Belgium (SVB). We recently caught up with the team behind this network to find out more about SVB and their plans for the future.

For the past two years, Social Value Belgium (SVB) has been operating as an associated network of SVI. As an informal network, we have been promoting SVI initiatives and trainings, organising events linked to the Social Value Matters conference, setting up a community of practice on Impact Measurement and Management (IMM), collaborating with SVI and its networks in an OECD-funded peer learning partnership on effective stakeholder engagement, etc.

On 28th of July 2021, with the support of the Brussels-based impact enterprise C-lever.org, SVB has taken an important step in its institutional development, by being officially incorporated as a private foundation. Today, Social Value Belgium is therefore ready to upgrade from being an associated network to become a Joint Member Network of SVI.

Aligned to SVI, SVB envisages a world where decision making is based on a broad understanding of value and impact; contributing to the well-being for all people and the planet. SVB’s mission is about building a large Belgian network and community, bringing together and further inspiring people who are passionate about ensuring that organisations, whatever their type, are aware of and account for their social and environmental impact, thus contributing to a fairer and more sustainable world.

In collaboration with SVI and other national/regional networks of SVI, Social Value Belgium will provide training, exchange opportunities, practice hubs, professional certification, awareness raising, peer reviews, etc. Such initiatives focus on social value generation, corresponding resource allocation, impact management and measurement (including social return on investment), non-financial reporting, stakeholder accountability, outcome-based funding / impact investment, etc. SVB intends to act as a bridge between (professionals from across) the corporate world, public organizations, European institutions, NGOs and civil society. At Belgian and European levels, SVB wants to inspire and connect, heighten awareness, foster synergies, equip professionals and lobby in support of policy change.
