Strategic Partnership Between Capitals Coalition and Social Value International 

Capitals Coalition and Social Value International (SVI) are delighted to announce a new strategic partnership aimed at expanding education and capacity-building initiatives related to social and environmental impacts in the private sector. This collaboration seeks to address the growing knowledge and skills gaps within businesses, emphasizing the importance of the capitals approach for improving impact measurement, valuation, and decision-making.

To reach a broader audience, Capitals Coalition has developed a Train-the-Trainer (TTT) course in partnership with SVI. This course aims to equip trainers worldwide with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the needs of organizations wanting to develop their knowledge and understanding of the capitals. By expanding capacity-building efforts, experienced sustainability practioners will be able to provide high-quality training, helping businesses improve their impact and transform practices for the better.

ABOUT THE NATURAL CAPITAL FOR BUSINESS DECISION-MAKING – ON THE PATH TO NATURE POSITIVE AND NET ZERO TRAIN-THE-TRAINER COURSE 

The "Natural Capital for Business Decision-making – on the path to nature positive and net zero" Train-the-Trainer course will provide experienced individuals worldwide with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality training on natural capital approaches. The course delves into critical areas such as biodiversity, air quality, greenhouse gases, water, and land. Through a holistic approach, the knowledge shared encompasses impact and dependencies measurement, valuation, transformative decision-making, strategy improvement, and real-world application, among others.

Outline of the course:

The Train-the-Trainer course includes 20 hours of learning content, comprising offline preparation, live online training sessions, one in-person event (with an online alternative for those unable to attend in person), and a final knowledge and skills test for accreditation. The learning materials encompass PowerPoint slide decks, facilitator’s notes, breakout room exercises, homework practice activities, and discussion time. 

Throughout the course, participants will: 

  • Develop facilitation skills to deliver the course engagingly to business audiences. 

  • Learn and exchange methods for teaching course content interactively to various audiences. 

  • Understand the role of the natural capital approach in guiding better business decision-making. 

  • Gain familiarity with assessing natural capital using relevant frameworks. 

  • Learn to use natural capital assessments to identify and address business risks and opportunities. 

  • Acquire a foundational understanding of assessing, measuring, and valuing impacts on nature across operations and value chains. 

  • Be inspired to drive business change through target setting, commitments, and transforming practices.

Capitals Coalition and Social Value International will recognize and promote your status as an accredited trainer, supporting you in bringing this crucial methodology to a broader market. You'll also join a global network of professionals and contribute to global efforts to preserve our natural world.

PRE-REQUISITES

Participants will need to demonstrate relevant experience, qualifications, and knowledge related to sustainability and adult education. Final requirements will be outlined on the application form, which will be available in September.

Desirable

  • Experience working in sustainability across various domains like Impact Measurement & Management (IMM), ESG, and CSR, within corporate, public sector, or NGO contexts. This includes engaging with different types of organizations or investors, highlighting your ability to apply sustainability practices in diverse settings and collaborate effectively on business-related sustainability initiatives.

  • Experience or accreditations in sustainability or related training (e.g., SVI Accreditation, Level 1 or above on the Social Value Professional Pathway, Capitals Coalition's Coursera course, etc.).

Candidates who do not meet all the requirements are still encouraged to apply if they believe their experience aligns with the course outcomes.

COST

Training Fee 

Participants will be charged a one-off training fee to attend the training course and undertake the assessment process. To ensure equity and include diverse perspectives we offer a limited number of partial tuition scholarships.

 One-off training fee pricing structure (all prices GBP):  

  • High-Income Countries: £750  

  • Medium-Income Countries: £500 

  • Low-Income Countries: £300

 Annual License Fee 

Upon successful completion of the assessment process, participants will be charged an annual licensing fee to become an Accredited Trainer for the "Natural Capital for Business Decision-making – on the path to nature positive and net zero" course. This fee will support administrative costs, training materials, the development of a repository of relevant examples and case studies, and ongoing professional development.

The annual license fee details will be provided on the application form.
