Strategic Partnership Between Capitals Coalition and Social Value International Announced

Capitals Coalition and Social Value International (SVI) are delighted to announce a new strategic partnership aimed at expanding education and capacity-building initiatives related to social and environmental impacts in the private sector. This collaboration seeks to address the growing knowledge and skills gaps within businesses, emphasizing the importance of the capitals approach for improving impact measurement, valuation, and decision-making.

To reach a broader audience, including those who have yet to engage with impact measurement and valuation, the Capitals Coalition community is committed to demonstrating the relevance of capitals approaches for businesses. Many companies are actively seeking guidance on how to transform their processes to enhance their impact footprint and create new opportunities. The demand for practical, actionable knowledge is higher than ever, particularly in communities of practice.

To meet this demand, the Capitals Coalition is expanding its capacity-building efforts by developing new training products. Following the successful pilot of the first Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Course on Natural Capital with an Indian partner, The Center for Responsible Business, the Coalition is now focused on scaling this initiative with the "Natural Capital for Business Decision-making – on the path to nature positive and net zero" Train-the-Trainer course. This course will provide experienced individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality training in natural capital approaches. The goal is to support trainers worldwide in delivering this course to their respective audiences through a decentralized and global approach. The train-the-trainer model is the ideal method to achieve this, ensuring that high-quality, certified content is disseminated effectively.

Social Value International brings extensive experience in delivering Train-the-Trainer programs, including the SDG Impact Standards course with UNDP and training on Social Return on Investment and Impact Measurement and Management.

Chief Executive of SVI Ben Carpenter said

SVI and the Capitals Coalition share a vision of the world where businesses decisions are based on a broader definition of value, one that goes beyond just financial value. We are delighted to work together to develop a community of trainers that can deliver high quality training on the capitals approach. This first course on natural capital for business decision making is timely and a vital contribution for our collective movement to change the way the world accounts for value. ”

This partnership builds on a strong history of collaboration between the two institutions, including projects like the Coursera course on Social and Human Capitals, advisory panels, the Value Commission, and responses to IFRS Consultations. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, Capitals Coalition and SVI aim to equip more individuals and institutions with the knowledge and tools needed to value Natural Capital, driving positive change across the global economic system.

“This is your chance to future-proof your career while making a meaningful impact on the world. By becoming a certified trainer, you empower businesses to drive change that benefits people, nature, and our global economy."

- Louise Amand, Senior Manager & Train-the-Trainer Facilitator, Capitals Coalition
