SVI joins millions taking action to #FLIPTHESCRIPT for people and planet

Social Value International is proud to have supported the #ACT4SDGS #FlipTheScript campaign this Global Goals week, which ran from 16-25 September 2022.

About Global Goals Week

The Global Week to #Act4SDGs is a global mobilization taking place during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly in September, to show world leaders that people all around the world are committed, dedicated, and inspired to take action on the SDGs. This year’s mobilization will focus on the key themes of Climate, Justice and Peace and mark the mid-way point of the SDG Agenda.

This year’s mobilization focussed on the key themes of Climate, Justice and Peace and mark the mid-way point of the SDG Agenda.  The theme of the campaign was to raise awareness of global actions to #FlipTheScript, and showcase how we are collectively rethinking, recalibrating and reimagining our societies and economies to achieve the SDGs.

The campaign also aimed to show that our choices and individual actions matter and empower us to know that, collectively, we are a massive force that can bring about transformative change and reach for a better future. Over the course of the week, the campaign was designed mobilize, inspire and connect stakeholders and show that change is possible for a healthy, just and green recovery.

How SVI helps to #FlipTheScript

Social Value International’s mission is “to change the way society accounts for value” - because we believe if we transform the way we account for value, and the way we make decisions we will be about to transform or societies and economies to ensure protection and prosperity for people and planet.

To support the #GLOBALGOALSWEEK, SVI launched a social media campaign raising awareness of how changing the way we account for value can #FlipTheScrip on the way decisions are made and protect people and the planet. Over the course of the week we highlighted:

  • That SVI are the provider of the global best practice standards for impact measurement and management and has been setting the global standards for IMM/social value accounting for over 15 years; and that The Principles of Social Value and the standards for applying each principle, enable organisations globally to #FlipTheScript and help us transform the way we make decisions.

  • The partnership between Social Value International and SDG Impact, and how we are delivering training courses to sustainability experts globally on the SDG Impact Standards. Get in touch to find out more.

  • How important Governance is to the the SDG Impact standards and that one-way businesses can create good Governance systems is by looking at their boardrooms. We highlighted that is why SVI is a partner of Boardroom 2030. To find out more about Boardroom 2030, check out the #toolkit and help reimagine the future of boardrooms by 2030.

  • We raised awareness of how, as a membership organisation, we strive to work collaboratively with our members to be a massive force that can bring about transformative change and reach for a better future. We are here to mobilize, inspire and connect stakeholders and show that change is possible!

  • We also raised awareness about a the range of services offered by SVI and the Global Network community is helping to empower individuals and organisations to #FlipTheScript;

    • For example, did you know that SVI Accredited Training equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to #FliptheScript, to help us rethink, reimagine and recalibrate our societies? With just 8 years left to achieve the SDGs, there has never been a better time to join an Accredited Training programme!

  • We also highlighted our upcoming Social Value Matters 2022 conference, which is going to bring participants together from across different sectors, to discuss a way of making decisions that listens and responds to stakeholder voices, that is transparent and accountable, that protects people and the planet, and that can be made at a local, regional and global level.

  • #SDG17 is an important one for SVI. So we also shared the work of some our incredible partners, such as the Wellbeing Economy Alliance. We were also proud to announce that alongside The Capitals Coalition and GSG, SVI have responded to another important consultation on how we #FlipTheScript to change the way the world accounts for value. Read our blog here for more details about this consultation.

What’s next?

Global Goals week might be drawing to an end, but the work does not end there. Social Value International will continuously and collectively work on our vision and mission to reimagine our world and seize the opportunity within the crisis to show that we can catalyze positive change and achieve the SDGs by changing prevailing narratives!
