Social Value and SROI Practitioner Training: Sydney

SIMNA is now offering the two-day accredited Social Value and Social Return on Investment (SROI) practitioner training course.

We all want to make a positive impact, but how do we know if we’re actually achieving that goal?

One way of doing this is using the Social Value and SROI framework. Social Value and SROI is an internationally recognised framework for understanding, measuring and valuing social, economic and environmental outcomes. It is a stakeholder-informed method that tells the story of how change is created, but also uses monetary valuation techniques to understand the relative importance of those changes and compares it against the costs to achieve it.

What does the training cover?

These are not ‘stand and deliver’ courses. Throughout the training you will be learning as you apply the principles to real-life examples that you bring to the table. During the training you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the history, philosophy and principles of SROI and social value

  • Undertake practical work on a real-world example using an impact map, in groups

  • Define the scope, stakeholders, inputs and outputs of your example

  • Map, evidence and value your outcomes

  • Learn about different valuation techniques

  • Understand the assurance and accreditation requirements

  • Discuss broader implications of Social Value and SROI for your work.

Who is the training for?

The training is suitable for anyone interested in better understanding the impact of their program, organisation or investment, or in supporting other organisations to do so. Participants typically come from a wide range of organisations including not-for-profits, social enterprises, funders, corporates and government agencies, working as executives, investors, managers, evaluators and consultants.

Why attend the training?

  • To learn about frameworks and tools that will help you to confidently define, measure and value outcomes

  • To find out how to effectively present this information to key audiences

  • To build and deepen your professional network with others seeking to apply the principles of social value in their work

  • To gain the skills and knowledge to embark on, or continue on, the SVI Professional Pathway.
