Beyond the Scoreboard: Social Value in Sport

Sports programs have the power to unite communities, inspire positive change, and drive social impact, making them more than just games—they're a force for transformation.

We're thrilled to present two recently assured social value reports on football, showcasing incredible work from Ireland and Türkiye as part of our global movement. In partnership with Social Value UK, Social Value Türkiye, Kızlar Sahada, Football Cooperative Etkiyap and the South East Technological University (SETU) this session dives into two case studies of best practice in the field of social impact measurement and reporting in football.

Get ready to explore game-changing impact measurement and reporting practices from leading practitioners, and discover how football is making a real difference in communities worldwide.

All social value reports were assured through Social Value UK and verified to meet SVI’s 8 Principles!

We’re excited to feature two key projects:

  • Kızlar Sahada (Girls on the Field), Türkiye: This initiative empowers girls through sports, promoting gender equality and community engagement. By providing opportunities for girls to participate in and benefit from sports, Kızlar Sahada exemplifies how targeted sports programs can drive significant social change.

Speakers:

Kiraz Öcal, Co-Founder, Kızlar Sahada

Ceyda Özgün, Chief Impact Officer, Etkiyap & SVI Accredited Trainer

  • The Football Cooperative, working closely with SETU, Ireland: Focused on leveraging football to foster social inclusion and community development for men, the Football Cooperative creates pathways for men from diverse backgrounds to engage in meaningful sports activities. Their work demonstrates how football can be a powerful tool for community building and social impact.

Dr Paula Carroll, Senior Lecturer & Researcher at SETU & Accredited Health Promotion Practitioner

Dr Tom Egan, Executive MBA Course Director and Lecturer, SETU
